History - Mehrangarh Fort Jodhpur Rajasthan

Because of its magnificent design and rich history, Jodhpur's Mehrangarh Fort is a popular tourist destination. Mehrangarh fort was erected by Rao Jodha in 1459 and is considered one of Rajasthan's most fearsome and gorgeous forts. The fort is located on a 125-meter-high hill on the outskirts of Jodhpur city and spans 5 kilometres.

The Mehrangarh fort has seven gates via which visitors can enter. These seven gates were built by various monarchs to commemorate victories over the forces of Bikaner and Jaipur.

From this fort, which appears to be a blue carpet strewn at the foot of a hill, one can get a panoramic view of Jodhpur city. This fort was built with the help of every Jodhpur ruler. The majestic palaces may be found within the fort. Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Zenana Dude, Takht Vilas, and Jhanki Mahal are the main palaces of Mehrangarh Fort. Inside the fort, there are two temples devoted to Goddess Durga and the Kuldevi, respectively: Chamundi Devi Mandir and Nagnechiaji Mandir.

The Mehrangarh fort also has a museum with a diverse collection of palanquins, musical instruments, royal cradles, costumes, weaponry, furniture, and paintings.
