Information about Gulmarg
Gulmarg is one of the most picturesque places in the Kashmir valley. Gulmarg literally translates as "flower meadow." Gulmarg was once known as Gaurimag, after Shiva's beaches. Gulmarg, a highland resort in Jammu and Kashmir, is approximately 52 kilometers south of Srinagar in the Baramulla district. Gulmarg has a moderately sloping topography and is located at an altitude of 2730 meters above sea level. In 1927, the British found the highland resort of Gulmarg during their colonial authority over India. The British Resident and his fellow Europeans were also hosted in Gulmarg. Gulmarg is a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty. Gulmarg's snow-capped peaks and gorgeous vistas have served as the backdrop for a number of Bollywood films. In addition, Gulmarg is Asia's only heli-skiing resort. Gulmarg is much more than a cool hill resort because of its great beauty and adventure activities. It is a suitable starting point for hikes into the Himalayas and also provides tourists with a variety of winter sports options. Gulmarg can be visited at any time of year. Skiing is best throughout the winter months of November to February. The months of May to September are ideal for visiting the location. When walking along Gulmarg's circular path, all you have to do is look down to see the entire valley, including Srinagar. Nanga Parbat, the naked peak that towers above 26,000 feet and dominates the landscape, is also visible. Gulmarg's newly constructed gondola lift through pine-clad hills is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for a fun-filled trip of a most unusual kind. This gondola, which is one of the highest in the world, will transport you above 15,000 feet. You may reach out and touch the sky, merging with the clouds.
