Jaipur's Jal Mahal is a magnificent palace nestled in the middle of a lake.

The Jal Mahal, also known as the Water Palace, is one of the most stunning architectural palaces in Jaipur, built with Mughal and Rajput artistry. The view from the Jal Mahal palace over the Man Sagar Lake and the Nahargarh hills that surround it is breathtaking. It was created in the Rajput and Mughal architectural traditions and is regarded a work of art. History of Jal Mahal Jaipur


The Jal Mahal, which literally translates to "Water Palace," is a palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital. It is located in the centre of the Man Sagar Lake.
Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber refurbished and expanded the palace and the lake surrounding it in the 18th century.

Architecutre Jal Mahal


The five-story Jal Mahal in Jaipur is composed of red stone. The palace's first four storeys are submerged, leaving only the fifth floor visible. There are four chattris on each of the palace's four corners.


The form of them is octagonal. The fort contains some fine marble sculptures that give it a regal air, and the palace has twenty pillars that serve as the royal family of Raja Jai Singh's cenotaph.


Maharaja Jai Singh 2 refurbished the lake and the surrounding area in the 18th century.


The city lake fills up with water during the rainy season. The water palace is only accessible by boat, which transports visitors from the land to the palace in the lake's centre

 

Even when crossing the palace for the road, the entire scene is so lovely that people of all ages are drawn to it.


In the past, the lake was a birdwatcher's paradise and a favourite spot for the Rajput monarchs of Jaipur to hold royal duck shooting parties during picnics.

Information for Visitors to the Jal Mahal


Jal Mahal is around 4 kilometres from Jaipur's main city centre and is accessible via the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway.


Fees and Hours of Admission: Visitors are not permitted to visit the Palace. However, you can see the palace while rowing on the lake.
